what does the penny in the door mean?

Because we're a custom shop, the design of our projects comes from a collaboration between our customers and Designer, Bill Barrett.  Aside from creating a design to reflect our customer's personal style, we do other things to make the door experience a personal one.  We work with our customers on selecting their finish color and then hand apply the stain to achieve a perfect finish.  During installation, we put a penny in each door.  The penny in the door is to remind our customers of the year their beautiful entry was created.   Our installers take tremendous care to make sure the installation is smooth and professional.

How do we get started?

Contact us by email, phone or in person.  Prior to scheduling an appointment to talk about your project, we request some information.  If you're doing a remodel, we want to see a photo of your existing door, with a very rough measurement and an inspiration door, if you have one.  If your project is a new build, we just need to see the plans and talk about specifics.

How long is the appointment and where is it?

Bill Barrett will meet with you to discuss your project.  Generally it can take an hour or longer, depending on the complexity of the project.  He will discuss wood species, designs, hardware, etc. and show you samples.

How long will it take to get my new door/hardware?

We have a consistent number of projects we're working on and it depends on the complexity of your project and other factors how long the start-to-installation process will take.  We will give you an estimate and keep you posted during your project.

Do you only do wood doors?

We specialize in all types of wood doors, iron doors, folding/sliding entries, garage doors, decorative door and cabinet hardware, etc.  We do residential, commercial and historic projects.
